INL has joint appointment agreements with 24 different universities across the nation. This enabled 41 individuals to have formalized joint appointments during FY-21.University Partnerships instituted a new process in FY-21 aimed at streamlining unfunded joint appointments. This process involved a Letter of Designation administered by University Partnerships welcoming the appointee and establishing the parameters of a formal relationship between INL and the university joint appointee without requiring the execution of a new contract.
